What Coaching Is:
Wikipedia.org
Coaching is a method of directing, instructing and training a person or group of people, with the aim to achieve some goal or develop specific skills. According to a survey of coaching clients, "sounding board" and "motivator" were the top roles selected for a coach. Clients are looking for a coach "to really listen to them and give honest feedback."
Business coaching is the practice of providing support and occasional advice to an individual or group in order to help them recognize ways in which they can improve the effectiveness of their business. Business coaches work to improve leadership, employee accountability, teamwork, sales, communication, goal setting, strategic planning and more. Business coaches are often called in when a business is perceived to be performing badly, however many businesses recognize the benefits of business coaching even when the organization is successful.

What Coaching Is Not:

Some assert that life coaching is akin to psychotherapy without restrictions, oversight or regulation. The State legislature of Colorado, after holding a hearing on such concerns, disagreed, [2], asserting that coaching is unlike therapy because it does not focus on examining nor diagnosing the past. Instead coaching focuses on effecting change in a client's current and future behavior. Additionally, life coaching does not delve into diagnosing mental illness or dysfunction.

Blossoming has established itself as a go-to for resources, information and ideas on how to be satisfyingly productive and live well. This, combined with Christine's background in corporate training and development, created our response to develop a complete coaching arm to our company. In the corporate world, Christine successfully coached professional development in the areas of leadership, team-building, communication, conflict resolution, sales and customer service. Through her own company, Blossoming, Christine has been coaching small business, writing and creativity clients. She recognized the need to expand into a consortium of coaches where a variety of areas of focus would be available for clients to access depending on their current needs at any given time.
